The assembly of the INERO™ barrier 

The flood barrier in brief

  • 100 metres of barrier complete on two cargo pallets
  • 80 cm high (80 cm water level)
  • Made of 3 mm sea-water-resistant marine-grade aluminium.

The material is packaged in a steel crate.

A crate in galvanized steel (1300x900x1000 mm) holds 100 meters of complete H50 barrier and can be stacked on top of each other, four in height. Packed in the steel boxes, a 20 ‘ container can hold a full two-kilometer H50 barrier.


 

Assembly – Step 1:

Mark out where the barrier will stand before starting assembly.

Assembly – Step 2:

Affix the support leg in the keyhole slot with nuts. At this stage, simply tighten the nuts by hand.

Assembly – Step 3:

Continue joining the sections. It is easiest to assemble the barrier from left to right, as seen from the rear.
Set up a barrier segment first, then affix the support leg.

Assembly – Step 4:

Affix the support leg in the keyhole slot on the barrier.

Assembly – Step 5:

Roll out the plastic film. Work in pairs. The plastic is folded in two when it is first laid out.
Fix the plastic in place with 2 clips per section. It is a good idea to position the clips over the hole in the top of the barrier segment.

Fold down the edge of the plastic film once it is completely rolled out.

Assembly – Step 6:

Anchor the plastic film to the ground with loose sand or sandbags, sand weights or chains.

DONE!

A few hints in closing

It’s this easy to build the barrier on flat ground and in a straight line. 

However, there are special ways to set up the barrier when:

  • the ground is uneven, or if
  • the barrier needs to curve

Uneven ground

When the ground is uneven, for example kerbs, steps, etc., adapt the barrier by adjusting:

  • the height between the sections
  • the level of the support leg on the barrier

If the ground slopes but its surface is even, the sections can usually be assembled as usual.


Adjusting the barrier to fit uneven grounds

Corner sections

Corners are created using 45-degree inner or outer sections.
Two 45-degree sections make one 90-degree corner.

Inner curve

Accessories to the barrier include 45-degree corner sections for an inner curve.
Two 45-degree sections make one 90-degree corner.

As an example the inner curves can be used to build a basin.

Outer curve

Accessories to the barrier include 45-degree corner sections for an outer curve.
Two 45-degree sections make one 90-degree corner.

The outer curve could be used when building the barrier around a house or a remote electrical substation or pumping station.

If the barrier is built from two directions

The barrier can also be build up from two directions. When the barriers meet let the last barrier section overlap. Secure the sections by fitting a bolt into the hole at the top.

After use

After use, clean and dry the barriers and support legs and re-pack them on their pallets.
